The young man asked the gray-haired banker, “How do you become a good banker?”
The banker, remembering himself at that age, replied, “By becoming successful, young man.”
“How do you become successful?”, came back the reply.
“Experience. You have to have experience. And you gain experience by making good decisions”
Needing to dig deeper, the young man asked, “So how do I learn to make good decisions?”
The old man puffed is cigar and peered through the smoke as it formed a cloud above them. “Bad decisions. You learn by making bad decisions.”
So I am a retired gray haired banker. To me, the greatest compliment is that I have a tremendous sense of the obvious. No one comes to the state without paying attention, recognizing, and filing away what works and what doesn’t. I enjoy the journey and the discovery.
